In 1995, A[]B bought a beer company in Wuhan to be the base of
Budweiser, which successfully beat down Blue Ribbon to be the number
one foreign beer brand in China.
On Oct. 22, 2002 Tsingtao Bear signed the strategic investment
agreement with the A[]B, the biggest beer corporation in the world.
According to the agreement, A[]B held the 27% of Tsingtao Bear's
stock, and was the second biggest stocker of Tsingtao Bear. A[]B would
provide the capital, technology and management for the Tsingtao Bear.
As the biggest bear company in the world, why A[]B was raring not
only to cooperate with the Tsingtao Bear, but to be the second biggest
stock holder?
China has passed America to the biggest bear market in the world,
and also increase at 5% every year. Tsingtao Bear was the first class
bear company in China and was time[]honored brand. The A[]B wanted to
share the cake of Chinese market directly through cooperating with the
Tsingtao Bear. (Wei, 2006: 167)
On Nov. 19th 2003,A[]B spared 50 million dollars to hold the stocks
of Venus beer.
In 2004, A[]B successfully acquired Harbin beer, the fourth largest
beer brewery in China, which realized the strategic intention of A[]B
in China. A[]B was impatient to wait the development of Budweiser, so
he took the capital arm to satisfied the wild desire to dominate the
Chinese beer market. (Wei, 2006: 136)
